When it comes to the city of Vienna, there really is no other place like it. A friend recently said to me, “it just doesn’t get better than this, you can travel the entire world and you will never find a place as unique and as beautiful as here.” I must say, as a foreigner who has been to more than 40 countries around the world, only to finally plant my feet in Vienna – I would have to agree, 100%. It really doesn’t get better! Here are my top things to do in Vienna!
Find Your Way – Discover Your Place
Hi Everyone – My name is James, but most people call me Jimmy. I’m an Australian, born and bred, but I’m currently living in Vienna, Austria, where I have resided for the past few years with my wife. I have been very fortunate over the last few years, which has allowed me to travel all over the world for most of my adult life. While it has been an amazing experience, meeting so many people along the way and creating so many beautiful stories, my one big regret it that I never bothered to record my journey – I guess I was having too much fun, or maybe I was just lazy in my youthful years! Having travelled to more than 40 countries, it is such a shame that all of my experiences will only live on in my slowly diminishing memory, so, I have decided to start my very first blog, before I lose them forever.
I hope my stories and my experiences can help people travel in a more efficient way, removing all the guess work from their planning, allowing them to create a better journey and a more spectacular memory. Over the years I have made many mistakes and learnt countless lessons while on the road, and I hope I can bring these lessons to my writing to help others avoid the traps.
Welcome to my blog – I hope you enjoy the ride!

Fortunately for you, I have put together the perfect walking tour of the city’s Historic First District, which includes all of the best things to do and see in Vienna. Better yet, it can be done all in the space of just one day – so what are you waiting for? Bust out those walking shoes and let’s get started!
It is safe to say that Milos is one of the best Greek Islands on offer. This spectacular destination is home to so much beauty and has so many things to do, that it really will keep a piece of your heart, long after you have departed home! The best part though, is that even at its busiest, the island is so large that it almost feels like you’re alone. Here are our top picks for the best things to do in Milos on your next holiday!
Out of all the Greek islands, Santorini is one of the most visited – seeing more than one million tourists each year. Between the natural beauty and the welcoming people of Santorini, this island is surely going to remain a top destination in the decades to come, and while many travellers visit for relaxation and lounging on the picture-perfect beaches, there’s so much more that often gets overlooked! Here are our top picks for the best things to do in Santorini.
Folegandros is the sleepy Greek Island where time stands still and authentic traditional culture reigns true over the more common touristic luxuries one might find on other islands, such as Santorini and Mykonos. Put simply, Folegandros is where you go to relax! There is no glistening nightlife. There are no crowded tourist shopping streets. There is no cruise-ship port. There is no coastline that is jammed-packed with sun-beds and loud music. It’s just, perfect in every way.
Strap on your boots, fill-up that water bottle, and get ready for one of the most amazing nature hiking trails that you can experience in Vienna! Starting on the banks of the mighty Danube River and ending in the beautiful vineyards of the Nussberg, you begin by making your way to the bus station of “Kahlenbergerdorf,” and then proceeding towards the bottom of the majestic, Leopoldsberg.
When you think about the many things to do in Vienna, at the top of almost every list you will find the magnificent Schönbrunn Palace. However, when it comes to Schönbrunn Palace, most travellers don’t bother to look further than the palace itself, and the gardens in its immediate vicinity. Let me tell you, there is sooooo much more to this place than meets the eye, and you can literally spend an entire day here and not see it all, if you know what you’re looking for!
I just can’t get enough of the green parklands that are on offer in Vienna, as it is a very rare occurrence that you will find a city the size of Vienna, with so many opportunities to experience untouched nature and perfectly manicured gardens. In this blog I will list where you can find the best parks and gardens in Vienna, so you can get out and experience the city’s natural surrounds, often away from the hustle-and-bustle of the mainstream tourist attractions.
There are so many amazing places to experience the Wienerwald, and it’s just not possible to use the excuse “it’s too hard to get there.” There are busses and trams that will deliver you right to the doorstep of this spectacular forest, from all over the city, and they will get you there in less than 30-minutes! That’s right – LESS THAN 30 MINUTES!!! Here are the best places to experience the Vienna Woods, or as the locals call it, the Wienerwald.
Check out my list of the best views in Vienna; places where you will experience the most amazing views of the city that are on offer.
