A friend recently said to me, “it just doesn’t get better than this, you can travel the entire world and you will never find a place as unique and as beautiful as here.” I must say, as a foreigner who has been to more than 40 countries around the world, only to finally plant my feet in Vienna – I would have to agree, 100%. It really doesn’t get better! Here are my top things to do in Vienna!

Vienna is an amazing travel destination, and with so many historic tourist attractions in one place, it is almost impossible to see it all in one trip. Strap on your boots, fill-up that water bottle, and get ready for one of the most amazing nature hiking trails that you can experience in Vienna! Starting on the banks of the mighty Danube River and ending in the beautiful vineyards of the Nussberg, you begin by making your way to the bus station of “Kahlenbergerdorf,” and then proceeding towards the bottom of the majestic, Leopoldsberg.

When you think about the many things to do in Vienna, at the top of almost every list you will find the magnificent Schönbrunn Palace. However, when it comes to Schönbrunn Palace, most travellers don’t bother to look further than the palace itself, and the gardens in its immediate vicinity. Let me tell you, there is sooooo much more to this place than meets the eye, and you can literally spend an entire day here and not see it all, if you know what you’re looking for!

I just can’t get enough of the green parklands that are on offer in Vienna, as it is a very rare occurrence that you will find a city the size of Vienna, with so many opportunities to experience untouched nature and perfectly manicured gardens. There are so many amazing places to experience the Wienerwald, and it’s just not possible to use the excuse “it’s too hard to get there.” There are busses and trams that will deliver you right to the doorstep of this spectacular forest, from all over the city, and they will get you there in less than 30-minutes! That’s right – LESS THAN 30 MINUTES!!! Here are the best places to experience the Vienna Woods, or as the locals call it, the Wienerwald.
