Beautiful Beaches Of Boracay Island

Beautiful Beaches Of Boracay Island

Written By: Sofia

I mentioned in one of my recent travel blogs how much I love the Philippines and how beautiful the many islands of the country were to visit. Did you know that this country has over 7,000 islands? One of the most popular is Boracay Island, which has the distinction of being on countless top 10 lists of some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

While I’m not here to argue with its status on many of those lists, I do believe that dozens of Philippine beaches can rival Boracay Island in terms of beauty -- so while I recommend a stay on the island, I do encourage all of my friends and family and anyone who reads this travel blog to go outside the box and travel to some of the smaller islands. Not only are they probably more beautiful, but they’re less crowded, which gives you the perfect relaxing island getaway.

Because Boracay Island is one of the most popular destinations in the Philippines, I thought I would go over some of notable aspects and characteristics of some of the popular beaches on the island. Before I go over the beaches, it’s important to remember the climate and location of the Philippines. Though the weather is often warm and very tropical, there is definitely an off-season and you’ll want to avoid it if possible. The off-season ranges between June and October -- I can almost hear you saying are you crazy, why would I not go to the Philippines during the summer vacation? Well, it’s because this time of year is often very susceptible to typhoon whether, which includes bouts of heavy rain, strong wind and an overall unpleasant addition to any trip. Even if there is no typhoon in sight, the heavy winds and torrential downpours is enough to not only cause you to avoid your beach excursions, but who wants to go to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and spend most of the time indoors? Do yourself a favor and plan accordingly. Also, keep in mind that the holidays are a popular tourist time, so accommodations are especially booked during Christmas, New Year’s and Easter.

WHITE BEACH

As one of the main beach destinations on Boracay Island, White Beach has nearly everything that you could look for in an inclusive getaway. Shops, restaurants and hotels are featured from block to block and accommodate a range of budgets -- for those who need to find more affordable accommodations, it will definitely take a little bit more time and research, but is completely possible.

One of my favorite places to enjoy breakfast is the Sunny Side Café, which is a relaxing spot that encourages diners to sit back and relax before and after a meal. Many of the restaurants in White Beach feature a Spanish or Mediterranean flair, but of course there are still the Filipino favorites to enjoy while you’re exploring the island.

DINIWID BEACH

If you want to perhaps get away from the crowds and the high energy of White Beach, Diniwid Beach is a good alternative. Located on the northern end of the island, this beach still provides a good number of accommodations, but away from the more inclusive resorts of White Beach. If you’re into adventure, there are a few things you’ll want to check out on the Beach including Spider House, which is located at the far end of Diniwid Beach and is a bamboo hotel that you must access by way of a cave. Staying at this hotel is truly an experience, rather than just somewhere to sleep for the night, so if you’re interested in something a little different, I would honestly recommend this property. Of course, there are more high-end hotels that feature luxurious amenities and restaurants, so if you want to be more localized to a certain property then you still have plenty of options.

BULABOG BEACH

Another prime alternative to the busier and more vibrant White is Bulabog Beach. This beach is perfect for those who want to enjoy some sports recreation or outdoor activities -- I should also note that this beach is one of the prime destinations for kite surfing and windsurfing. Even if you’ve never tried these activities, there are so many experts on hand providing lessons that I would highly recommend you give one a try. One of my favorite things to do while on a holiday is to try something new and to create fun memories that will last a lifetime.
