Brisbane is the subtropical capital of Queensland, the so-called "Sunshine State". It is made up of a variety of independent and unique boroughs, divided by the Brisbane River, which meanders through the suburbs from the ocean. The city combines sunny weather with beautiful scenery and outdoor river-life, broadcasting an omnipresent joy of life.

Due to the good weather, most of Brisbane's features are to be experienced outdoors: take the City Cat for a cruise on the Brisbane River and enjoy the views as you glide along the suburbs and parklands of the city. Expect amazing views of the nocturnal city lights and colorfully floodlit bridges by night.

The CBD is best explored walking around. You can take a break from city life by taking a stroll through the beautiful green City Botanic Gardens followed by a drink in one of the many bars on nearby Eagle Street Pier overlooking the river.  Make sure to visit the South Bank Parklands, an entertainment and recreation area with lots of drinking and dining options, where you'll find the Wheel of Brisbane and even a man-made beach with a lagoon to swim in!

Brisbane is home to the GOMA (Gallery Of Modern Art), the biggest gallery of modern and contemporary art in Australia. Another cultural highlight is the Brisbane powerhouse, a former power station converted into an iconic art center offering shows, exhibitions and fine cuisine. As night falls check out Brisbane's bar and club scene in the entertainment district Fortitude Valley.

Fun daytrips from Brisbane include Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary where you can meet and feed kangaroos and wallabies and can even cuddle a koala! Due to Brisbane's great location, getting to the coast will only take little over an hour, so take a trip to the Sunshine Coast or Gold Coast to enjoy a day at the ocean! Moreton Island and North Stradbroke Island are also just a stone's throw away -  make sure to visit them on a day trip!
