Vienna is Austria's capital and a cultural treasure box just waiting to be explored. The city combines culture and recreation with its own laid-back flair and style not found anywhere else. It consists of 1.7 million inhabitants yet walking through its many parks and cobblestone streets it feels more like a small and cozy town.

Visit its baroque churches, the impressive St. Stephen's cathedral, the grand opera and world-renowned theaters, or even spend a day at one of the many museums.  The beautiful churches, castles and palaces of this cultural metropolis are waiting to be explored. There are old and ornamented buildings everywhere, so sometimes you might feel like you're walking through history! Art and architecture lovers will not regret coming here as there are numerous places to visit, including some world-famous art deco buildings. Among the many places to see is the emperor's summer castle, Schloss Schönbrunn with its vast alleys and parks and the Hofburg, with its beautiful library and exhibition of the imperial treasures.

After seeing the imperial sights, relax in one of the traditional coffee houses and enjoy one of the multiple coffee options there. Later, take a tram to the northern end of the city where little wine taverns called "Heurigen" invite you to taste their wine and sample their traditional Viennese hors d'oeuvres. Culinary adventures also await you at the Naschmarkt, a marketplace full of international food stalls where you can sample, sit and eat while partaking in a little bit of people watching.

Art and leisure combine in the "Museumsquartier", where the old emperor's stables were transformed into an area of museums, restaurants, bars and relaxation areas.

Make sure to not only catch one of the Viennese classical music concerts, but also visit one of the many bars and clubs, for example along the "Donaukanal" where you can enjoy a cocktail sitting by the water listening to music. If you come in January or February, try to attend one of the numerous balls Vienna hosts every year and get that imperial feeling, all dressed up, waltzing under a chandelier in an original, traditional palace!
